Paw Print Genetics, a division of Genetic Veterinary Sciences, Inc. and Auburn University have reached an agreement to jointly provide testing for canine thrombopathia, a condition associated with abnormal platelet function in dogs. The test for thrombopathia is covered by United States Patent No. 7,838,232, which is assigned to Auburn University. Under this partnership, Paw Print Genetics will be offering testing for this disease and providing Auburn University statistics regarding this disorder on samples collected in the Paw Print Genetics laboratory. This agreement avoids any potential dispute between Paw Print Genetics and Auburn University concerning the validity of the ’232 patent.
